We're Cal and Carolyn — a Canadian and a Mainer who met in Český Krumlov and fell in love with each other and Southern Bohemia.
Since then, we've raised our two boys, opened the first youth hostel in town, and spent decades running Krumlov House, which welcomed travelers from around the world. Cal works with wood; Carolyn works with words. Between us, we've managed to build and write our way through three decades in one of the most beautiful corners of Central Europe.
Our dog Cezar has lived here his whole life and remains deeply critical of capitalism and overtourism.
